GLITTER: How would you describe your sound?
TAYLA: I would describe my sound as a genre gumbo! I’m also influenced by so many eras, so I feel my work allows me to continuously combine those influences to create something fresh and authentic to me.
GLITTER: What was it like hitting the Billboard top 100 charts for three of the songs you co-wrote, including “Thank U, Next” by Ariana Grande, “Love Lies” by Khalid and Normani, and “High Hopes” by Panic! at the Disco?
TAYLA: It was incredible! Not only was I able to make it to such an incredible milestone in my career as a songwriter, but I was able to do it with my friends.
GLITTER: How do you typically approach your studio sessions?
TAYLA: I typically approach sessions differently depending on what it’s for or my role in the room. I take a much more methodic approach when writing for others because you have to make sure you’re embodying this person's perspective. When I’m working on my album, I just have fun and let my subconscious tell me what’s on my heart to say.
GLITTER: What is the songwriting process like for you?
TAYLA: Songwriting is freeing. It gives me the ability to put emotions to music, and it’s so beautiful when the world relates, makes you feel either less alone or less crazy, I guess.
GLITTER: Do you consider all of your songs as conversation pieces?
