ANNOUNCING HER ENGAGEMENT JOY, TV STAR AMY WILLERTON ON HER DAREDEVIL PARTNER DANIEL DAY’S MAGICAL MOUNTAIN-TOP PROPOSAL
In her 15th-floor London riverside apartment, with the city skyline a breathtaking backdrop, TV personality and model Amy Willerton beams as she exclusively reveals to hello! the moment her partner of five years, businessman Daniel Day, popped the question on a snowy mountaintop in Switzerland.
At sunrise on 29 March, Amy, who appeared in ITV’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2013 and Channel 4’s winter sports show The Jump in 2017, set off with Daniel for a private heli-skiing trip. Their helicopter flight over Mont Blanc was due to be quickly followed by a challenging 2.7-mile off-piste descent from the top of Swiss ski resort Verbier’s famous Trient Glacier. But while Amy had arranged the excursion, Daniel had added his own secret plans.
“I was all set to do some extreme skiing,” recalls 26-year-old Amy. “Then I spied a breakfast picnic set up with candles, a firepit, a bottle of our favorite champagne and red roses everywhere. I panicked, thinking we’d intruded on someone else’s picnic and said to Dan: ‘I didn’t organize that.’ Then, on a furry blanket in the snow, I spotted a love heart with ‘Amy and Daniel’ written on it and I thought: ‘Oh my God.’ I realized Dan was up to something. Then he said: ‘Babe, I’ve brought you up here to give you this.’ And he reached inside his pocket.”
“I pulled out a pot of her favorite dessert,” laughs Daniel, 26, continuing the story. “In the run-up to Easter Amy became obsessed with Cadbury’s Pots of Joy and was always complaining that they were out of stock in the supermarket.”
Says Amy: “Then he dropped to both knees and pulled out a box from his pocket containing the most beautiful ring. It felt like a dream.”
It clearly still does.
