She is one of the Queen’s most trusted confidantes and the woman responsible for making sure the monarch always looks her best. Now royal dressmaker and personal advisor Angela Kelly is lifting the lid on their extraordinary bond in a new book that documents their years together through personal anecdotes and unseen photos – some from Angela’s own collection.
The Queen has taken the unprecedented step of giving her friend her blessing to write the book, called The Other Side of the Coin and published in October. No other serving member of the royal household has received such permission.
“It gives a rare glimpse into the demands of the job supporting the monarch and we gain a privileged insight into a successful working relationship, characterized by humor, creativity, hard work and a mutual commitment to duty,” says the Queen’s former assistant private secretary, Samantha Cohen.
