A woman who gets to kiss Ryan Gosling not once, but on a regular basis should by rights be a woman we hate. So how is it that, since bursting onto our screens in 2007’s Superbad, we have had pure, unadulterated love for Emma Stone?

It’s partly down to the 28-year-old’s engaging and funny personality. Then there’s her slick style and the fact that her ‘squad’ includes Amy Schumer, Adele and Jennifer Lawrence – that’s a night out we want to be a part of.

She’s also about to star in the film of 2017. La La Land (out 13 January) is an all-singing, all-dancing flick about aspiring actress Mia and her wannabe musician love interest Sebastian. It sees her star opposite Ryan for a third time and the result is quite simply magical. But what was it really like learning to dance with the Gosling? Let’s find out…

Hi Emma. La La Land makes us fall in love with Hollywood. Which movies did you love growing up?

I was mostly into comedies and that will always be my favourite [genre]. Drama is this incredibly vulnerable thing, but comedy, you have to have a sense of rhythm and be sensitive to the pace of things.

Do you love Los Angeles?
