Reality TV queen Katie Price is used to letting us into her life, with cameras following her every move. But viewers are about to see a completely different side to the former glamour model as she fronts deeply personal one-off BBC documentary Katie Price: Harvey And Me.
The hour-long film follows the 42-year-old and her son Harvey from his 18th birthday last May.
But his milestone is a bittersweet moment for mum-of-five Katie, who knows it’s time to make some major – and tough – decisions about his future.
Harvey was born with septo-optic dysplasia, an extremely rare disorder that affects brain function, hormones and vision, plus autism and other behavioural and learning issues.
Over six months, Katie weighs up her options and realises the best thing for Harvey is to move him into a residential college – just like the school he’s attended since last April. However, she’s keen to hit back at reports she’s moving him into full-time care.
“Harvey isn’t going into care, he will never go into care,” she tells new. “He’ll still come home on weekends and I’ll visit him.”
Here, Katie – who’s in a relationship with car dealer Carl Woods and is also mum to Junior, 15, Princess, 13, Jett, seven, and Bunny, six – opens up about the challenges of living with a child with a disability and why living apart will never break their bond.
