Millie Court won over Love Island viewers this summer, going on to be crowned the winner alongside boyfriend Liam Reardon.

Catapulted to fame, Islanders are pretty much guaranteed a massive social media following when they return to the “real world”. But it sounds like Millie has her head screwed on when it comes to dealing with online trolls.

“It’s very intense, the amount of comments and private messages you get. I think it’s easy for people to get lost in it,” the 24-year-old tells us.

“It’s tempting to read through all of your private messages, but that’s where you can get nasty comments. You know it’s bad but you just want to have a look, and you shouldn’t because all it really does is affect how you’re feeling.”

She and Liam therefore have to be very strict with themselves.

“When we post a photo or a story, we try not to read those comments. At dinner time, we say, ‘OK, let’s put our phones away now.’ We’re watching Prison Break in the evenings at the moment and it’s nice to have a social media break.”

That said, Millie is still able to see the positive side of online life.

“I’ve always loved Instagram. There are so many positives to social media, you just have to be careful.”

So what’s next for Millie? Here, the star chats about living with Liam, her new beauty collaboration and whether she’ll be doing another reality show any time soon…

Hi, Millie! You recently moved in with Liam. How’s that going?
