There was a time when Jennifer Lawrence couldn’t speak highly enough of her director boyfriend Darren Aronofsky. ‘He’s just brilliant,’ the actress gushed in September. ‘Incredibly instinctual.’

But after a year of dating, the couple are no more. Jen, 27, and Darren, 48, put on a friendly show when they were last seen together at the Governors Awards on November 11, with insiders revealing they broke up in October.

So what went wrong? Dire reviews for their psychological horror film Mother! added strain and it’s believed Darren became oppressive, with Blind Gossip confirming Jen was the subject of a recent item about an ‘award-winning actress’ under the thumb of her ‘very, very, controlling’ boyfriend.
