Gemma Owen became a household name when she entered the Love Island villa two weeks ago. But the 19-year-old is no stranger to fame - as the daughter of former Liverpool and England striker Michael Owen, she grew up with it. In fact, she's pretty much been photographed by paps since she was born due to her dad's hugely successful sporting career.
Whether it was being snapped at the World Cup in Germany in 2006 when she was just three years old, or on a trip with her family to Royal Ascot in York, Gemma's more than used to attending high-profile sporting events. And, perhaps unsurprisingly given her gene pool, she is a professional sportswoman herself.
While Chester-born Gemma may look like a typical reality star in the sense that she's very glamorous and well-groomed, the truth is that she spent her formative years mucking out her horses, and has gone on to become an international dressage rider.
Gemma has been passionate about riding since she was just two and was competing from the age of 11. She said, "I've never had a lie-in at weekends. Even if I have a night out the day before I'm always out sorting the horses out in the mornings. It's just what you have to do when you're at the top level of your sport."
