MOTHER COURAGE - ‘THERE WILL BE SPRING'
Olena Zelenska was thrust into the spotlight three years ago when she became the First Lady of Ukraine following her husband Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s successful election campaign to become president.

While some were sceptical about Volodymyr’s political ambitions as he started out as an actor, he has since proved he is more than up to the job. He has been widely praised for his response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, becoming a symbol of strength and a figure of hope for all his people.

Olena has stood loyally by his side, both of them refusing to leave Kyiv and using social media to raise morale. Olena has praised the “incredible” women who are the “face” of the resistance in Ukraine. The mother-of-two also expressed her admiration for the women fighting in the armed forces and lauded those who take children to bomb shelters every day.

The 44-year-old posted on social media, “There will be spring, there will be victory, there will be Ukraine,” sharing her devotion to her beloved country.

“My children are looking at me, I will be next to them and next to my husband and with you. I love you! I love Ukraine!”

Here, we take a look into the life and career of the woman who has become an inspiration for the people of Ukraine…

WHO IS OLENA ZELENSKA?

Olena comes from Kryvyi Rih, the largest city in central Ukraine. The screenwriter studied architecture at Kryvyi Rih National University, which is where she eventually met her nowhusband Volodymyr.
