After donning Joseph’s technicolour dream coat and the highest of high heels for Priscilla Queen Of The Desert, Jason Donovan says the sequins and Lycra of Dancing On Ice feel like second nature.
The self-confessed adrenaline junkie has thrown himself full force into the ITV skating show with his professional partner Alexandra Schauman, but that’s not to say the former Neighbours star doesn’t have any worries at the back of his mind.
“My wife is worried about me getting injured,” reveals Jason. “But my mind still wants to do what my 22-year-old body did!”
Before the show kicked off, the Australian actor and singer welcomed OK! into his five-bedroomed home in London, which he shares with his wife of 12 years Angela, their son Zac, 19, who is studying politics at university, and daughter Molly, nine.
The one person missing from their family abode, which features chandeliers, a balcony and a piano, is the couple’s eldest child Jemma, 20. She followed in her father’s footsteps in July 2019 when she joined the cast of Neighbours, to play Harlow Robinson. And as Jemma’s currently in Australia, she’s been unable to visit due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Here, Jason, 52, opens up to OK! about feeling proud of his family, his fears for Dancing On Ice and why he’s not in it to win it…
