‘WOMEN SHOULDN'T BE AFRAID TO OWN THEIR POWER'

It’s been a joy to watch Zendaya blossom from a talented teenage Disney star to the Emmy-winning actress she is today.

After finding worldwide fame with her appearances in blockbuster The Greatest Showman and the Spider-Man franchise, Zendaya earnt serious praise for her role as drug addict Rue in TV drama Euphoria.

It was this performance that saw her scoop the Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series gong at last year’s Emmys – the youngest ever winner in that category.

Her career aside, when we catch up with the 24-year-old she’s open and honest about the fact that she’s still not found The One to share her high-profile lifestyle with.

“It’s about finding someone who understands my life,” she tells us. “I can’t have a relationship be another heavy weight on top of everything that’s already going on.”

Although the star is guarded about her love life, she has previously quashed rumours that she was in a relationship with Spider-Man co-star Tom Holland.

Here, she lifts the lid on playing a title role in Netflix film Malcolm & Marie, her dreams for the future and what her idea of true love is…

Hi Zendaya. The pandemic is tough on everyone. How do you deal with it?

In quarantine, I’ve tried my best to connect with nature, so I go on hikes and things like that. I find it really helpful and grounding. When we were working on Malcolm & Marie, we shot the movie in the middle of nowhere, which was fantastic. Everyone stayed in this big ranch and we would get to see deer, horses and a lot of bees on the drive to the set. Those moments were really special to me.
