Just An Ordinary Woman
People Magazine South Africa|June 02, 2017

THIS woman’s story shows that extraordinary events can happen to ordinary people.

Robert Clunie
Just An Ordinary Woman

MY story is curiously riveting not because it involves wars or celebrities or natural disasters, but because it is quite the opposite. My story is that of a very ordinary woman, who, thanks to some unwise decisions and some plain old bad luck, has spent many years stumbling from one disaster to the next. Much of it reads like the script of a gritty soap opera.

I have had three successful brain operations for aneurysms which have been either clipped off or wrapped with muscle taken from either side of my temple so that they cannot burst. If they burst I end up with blood on the brain which, if not caught in time, leaves me severely disabled, comatose or even dead. I believe I have another aneurysm in the cavernous sinus sac that cannot be reached and my neurosurgeon advised it best be left alone.
