You don’t have a Godfather in the industry. So how was your journey from Miss India to where you are now, fuelled?
The journey has been very good, I don’t have any complaints as such. I think life is too short to sit around and mull. I have never been a dramatic person. I have come a long way, and I have a long way to go. Nothing is stopping me from working, at any point in time. What’s great is from the time I started, to now, a lot of avenues have opened up. People’s perspectives have changed, the audience has widened now. The gap has narrowed down, you could be anything from a digital star to a film-star. People lap up your effort, as long as you give them what is true, and are honest to what you’re doing.
What do you enjoy more, acting, modelling or judging reality shows?
I enjoy acting the most, the time I spend on a film set is just amazing.
So why then do we see you taking a back seat in Bollywood?
I am not taking a back seat in Bollywood. I am just not getting something I enjoy doing. I don’t like what I am getting, and what I like, I am not getting. This has always been a big battle for me. Then you’re better off reaching your audiences through different mediums. Like Roadies and Chhote Miyan is something I like and want to do. But if there is a film project that I am not enjoying, then I don’t see a reason for doing it.
What kind of a role would you like to do then?
