Sudeshna Chakravarty, Kakoli Poddar and Amber Dias applaud the vivacious gals who made India proud at the recently concluded Olympics at Rio De Janerio, Brazil.

The Indian At Rio!

The magnetic charm of the Olympics had the world glued to their television sets as they watched the best athletes from across the globe give it their all on the most prestigious sporting battlefield the 2016 Olympics. India’s brave battalion put up a good fight but in the end, four gorgeous gals swept the country off its feet with their spirit, spunk and sensational results.

THE SCREAM OF SUCCESS “I feel each [game] was equally tough and each one was totally different because everybody has a different style of game and different strategy. I never thought I would win an Olympic medal. I took it one match at a time. And gave my best.”

— P V Sindhu (Badminton)

10 months ago, Pullela Gopichand warned P V Sindhu that unless she stood in the middle of the court at the badminton academy in Hyderabad and screamed with 50 odd shuttlers and coaches looking on he would not let her touch the racquet. A tough act for the young softy that Sindhu was. Reduced to tears, she plucked up the courage and did as instructed. Fastforward to August 2016, the whole world watched her scream as she aggressively wove her way to secure a berth in the Olympic finals. With Sindhu, Indian expectations rose to fever pitch but in a closely fought final, she lost to the World No. 1 Carolina Marin of Spain.

Sindhu may have lost the game but apart from securing a silver medal, she won a place of pride in Indian hearts everywhere. And the nation continues to rejoice by showering appreciation, blessings and commendations in abundance on this spunky gal.
