There will be a new (but oh-so familiar) face in town in the second week of November, a man with a dream and a mission. “Khehla comes from the rural areas with a dream to be an artist – and actor – but he’s also been sent by his mother to look for his father,” reveals Thobani Nzuza (Lwandle in Isipho, 2019). “He’s a character in search of his identity, but also one who is fighting for his career. And he is also meeting the challenges of coming to a new place like the township of KwaMashu. So it’s a story that speaks to people who’re coming from rural areas to search for their dreams. When you come from a place like that, the township is a place of hope. There are community centres there, there are production houses that are close to the township,” he adds.
