It’s probably been one of the more stable relationships within the Generations universe, but a health crisis on the horizon will put Lucy and Mrekza’s (Manaka Ranaka and Kope Makgae) marriage to the ultimate test. Mrekza’s health has been acting up recently, but he attributed his recurring symptoms to old age. “He struggles to concentrate and is becoming forgetful. He forgets to do small things, like switching on the alarm,” Manaka explains. However, things take a worrying turn as another symptom crops up. “He is slurring with his speech,” Manaka reveals worryingly.
AVOID! AVOID!
Despite this clear warning sign, Mrekza refuses to seek medical help. Mostly for fear of the cause, but also as he’s a stubborn man. But there’s only so long that Mrekza can put things off before his business partner Mazwi (Musa Ngema) notices that Mrekza isn’t quite right. “When Mazwi realises something is wrong, he insists on making Mrekza a doctor’s appointment ASAP,” says Manaka. And it’s worse than Mrekza feared: he has a brain aneurysm, a bulging blood vessel in his brain on the verge of bursting. It could be fatal if it bursts, and Mrekza is told he needs life-saving surgery. “He is terrified. He could die or suffer a stroke. He can’t believe it,” admits Manaka.
