Choosing the best investment for your child’s future can be daunting. Here’s some help. by A. KAUR
IT IS EVERY parent’s dream to provide the best to their children. This requires prudent savings and investments. While you may delay your other life goals, such as buying a bigger car or a better house, if you face financial constraints, goals like your child’s education and career cannot be compromised or delayed. Here is a low-down on how you can analyse the investment options available in the market to do the right financial planning for your child.
get your basics right
No investment makes sense if you do not have an adequate life insurance cover and a health insurance. Sushil Jain, National Head, Financial Planning, Bajaj Capital, Delhi, alerts, “A medical condition or life-taking mishap may occur to anyone at any point of time, and in the absence of life and health insurance, your lifelong savings can be wiped away.” You also need to have a separate fund for a health emergency.
Health Insurance: If you have not done it yet, place a request to include your kid in your existing health insurance policy. Usually, every provider allows you to add a new member at the time of policy renewal by submitting a change request form along with a fresh proposal form. You may also consider increasing your insurance sum after the addition.
