It is true that a great deal has been written about what moms-tobe should eat when carrying a baby in their womb. Many of these facts may be as old as the hills. However, they still need to be emphasized and put into the modern-day perspective.
THE MOST frequently asked questions from expecting mothers are: How is the pregnancy diet different from a healthy diet? Do I have to double my food intake, as I need to cater to the needs of a growing baby in the womb?
Let me begin by telling you that what you eat during pregnancy has an impact on not just your baby but also your baby’s baby i.e. the many future generations. Poor nutrition takes more than one generation to correct. Therefore, your diet during pregnancy deserves attention and if, for some reason, you have neglected it so far, this is the best time to turn a new leaf.
The initial days
In the first few weeks of pregnancy, you have to deal with the invisible changes occurring in your body, at the hormonal level. During this phase of gestation, would-be moms grapple with nausea or morning sickness which results from certain changes in the acid secretion pattern and the back flow of acid from the stomach. There is no need to panic as it is the sign of a healthy pregnancy.
