DEMATERIALIZED OFFICE MAY BE A REALITY BY 2030
Before the COVID-19 pandemic emerged in early 2020, the idea of working and socializing from home was mainly a theoretical proposition. But less than a year later, that reality is suddenly the new normal for many of the world’s office workers. In the latest Ericsson IndustryLab study, “The Dematerialized Office”, early adopter white-collar employees in 16 countries, representing the views of around 133 million employees, were interviewed to gather their expectations about the future workplace. This report explores the future workplace, where senses such as touch, taste and smell are part of digital communications. This report is a follow-up to Ericsson Consumer & IndustryLab last year’s “10 Hot Consumer Trends 2030: The Internet of Senses” study (December 2019)1, that explored the shift from a screen-based internet connectivity to an immersive experience resulting from our senses being connected in everyday life. In this latest report, the internet of senses is brought into the office in order to see how sensory connectivity through Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR), 5G and automation can change the work situation for white-collar employees.

How Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) Protect Oceans?
“AUVs can work for a long time without getting tired and at depths impossible for a diver,” IEEE Senior Member Gabriele Ferri said. “Divers can operate typically up to 60 meters, requiring use of special gases and tools when operating at higher depths. Additionally, the time they can spend at such a high depth is quite limited. However, the sea bottom goes much deeper (up to 11,000 meters) and many installations are below the operating depth of divers, such as oil rigs or communications pipelines.”

From the excitement of young people using the latest apps and services, to the ways people are using smartphones to improve lives in rural villages. Google’s efforts in India have deepened our understanding of how technology can be helpful to different types of people. From improving voice input and computing for all of India’s languages to inspiring and supporting a whole new generation of entrepreneurs. I am excited to announce the Google for India Digitization Fund. Through this effort, we will invest 75,000 crore rupees, or approximately 10 billion US dollars, into India over the next five to seven years. This is a reflection of our confidence in the future of India and its digital economy.
