Tech tricks that’ll ensure you aren’t leaving yourself prone to attack
Nowadays, just about everyone has a broadband connection, and in a residential setup, it’s the job of a wireless router to facilitate that connection. The router may connect to a separate modem, or optical network terminal if you’re fortunate enough to have a fibre-optic connection, and routes traffic to client devices that are requesting data, such as a web page or a video stream.
With gigabytes of data passing through a router every day, it’s wise to invest some effort in making sure your router is as secure as possible. Otherwise, you could be in danger of folks logging on to your network wirelessly and stealing bandwidth, commonly known as ‘poaching Wi-Fi’ or ‘Wi-Fi squatting’.
