Roku Express

The new Roku Express is a cost-effective way to enjoy a full range of streaming services on older TVs
Roku Express

Roku was a pioneer of R affordable, plug-in TV streamers (we reviewed the original Roku back in Issue 287, in 2012 bit.ly/ webuser287) but the field has since become a lot more crowded. From Amazon’s Fire TV line to Sky’s Now TV Stick Citself a rebranded Roku), there are plenty of affordable alternatives, but Roku is pushing back against its budget-priced rivals with its new updated Roku Express.

This is the cheapest of Roku’s current range, which includes the Roku Premiere (increases the resolution from 1080p to 4K) and the Streaming Stick+ (boosts the Wi-Fi from 802.11n to 802.11lac). The Roku Express, priced at £24.99, is ideal for upgrading an older HDTV or for adding functionality to a kitchen or bedroom set.
