One Small Step For Man, One Giant Leap For Melon Stocks
Ever wanted to run your own city on an alien world? Aven Colony gives you control of an army of drones that can build habitats in seconds. It’s magic. All you have to do is point them at a square of land and tell them to build a mine, a farm, a skyscraper – whatever the colony needs. The hard part is keeping everyone fed and happy in the face of meteor showers, zombie spore outbreaks and the occasional giant alien worm.
City building sims can be a tricky affair with a control pad but Aven Colony’s smartly designed interface lets you select buildings and place them effortlessly. The right trigger brings up a wheel of building categories – housing, mining, air quality control – which you can delve deeper into with a tap of the A button. Then you place the ghostly white blueprint of your chosen structure on Aven’s colourful surface and watch your humble drones bring it to life. The process is not free of course. Buildings need nanites, which you get from nanite converter buildings, which in turn need iron, which means you need to build mines on rustred iron deposits. Setting up these production chains is part of the fun, and things get complicated quickly.
