This is a short cycle ride with a mixture of roads, lanes and tracks following a route to the west of Wokingham and exploring a mixture of urban and countryside terrain. This cycle ride is best done with a hybrid bike or mountain bike due to some of the rougher track sections, however these can be avoided if poor weather conditions dictate using better road sections.
Wokingham is a market town close to Reading and was once known for its silk production. It has a pretty market place with a number of historic buildings.
1 (SU 80628 68623) From Wokingham Station follow Station Approach northwards from the east side of the station following the cycleway. When you reach the Reading Road stop and cross the road, then turn left to continue on the cycleway. You should see St Paul’s Parish Church on the other side of the road.
Turn right at the next road (Holt Lane) and follow this road northwards and uphill passing Joel Park on your left. Joel Park is a small Local Nature Reserve.
At the next road, Jubilee Avenue (A321), turn left and follow this road north with Joel Park on your left. Continue along Clifton Road. At the end of Clifton Road turn left into Mathewsgreen Road and follow this until you reach Toutley Road. Turn right.
