And by influence, we mean what’s happening on your mobile phone and social media pages. Driving to distraction could be fatal
WE drivers who regularly commute in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire know that we have some of the busiest and most accident-prone roads in Europe. Yet everyday most of us witness other drivers still using their mobile phones behind the wheel. Now we have the latest figures to prove it. Thanks to a recent request under the Freedom of Information Act, we now know that straight AFTER tougher penalties came into law this spring, more than 200 drivers a day were caught using a mobile at the wheel. That was 6,000 drivers prosecuted for driving under the influence of a mobile phone in the first four weeks..
Does that suggest drivers will fully defy the toughening of the law? What WILL impress them? More deaths? More prison sentences?
