Testicular and prostate cancers affect different age groups but share very high survival rates. Consultant urologist, Andrew Wedderburn explains why you can’t delay a visit to the GP
TESTICULAR cancer is the most common cancer for men in their mid-20s and 30s. It typically presents as a small hard lump or swelling in the testicle however, it is important to note that only 10 to 20 per cent of scrotal or testicular lumps detected are cancerous. Lumps and swellings in the testicles are quite common, the majority of which are benign, or noncancerous conditions that don’t require treatment. Once any sized lump is found by you or a partner, seek medical advice. Testicular cancers are reasonably fast growing. When booking an appointment with your GP or a urologist, mention a lump has been found.
