The French are considered experts in dining and it’s true, they win hands down when it comes to delicious food presented in sophisticated and wonderful ways. Late autumn is a fabulous time of year to entertain when the chillier evenings offer plentiful opportunities for candle-lit soirées.
When starting to plan a dinner party there is a wealth of ways to create a stunning table that guests will be enamored with. Using different styling techniques can bring life and conversation to the table – and the French like nothing more than a conversation.
Pictured here are a few ideas for table styling. Always try to include some fresh flowers on the table – you could place them with the napkins or separate them into small vases instead of one central piece. Use little bottles in rows or smaller vases with a sprig of rosemary from the garden. Hand-write invitations to your guests, so that they enjoy a greater sense of occasion. Write out your menu on pieces of paper, or include a small literary quote that will instigate a discussion. A personal note at the start of dinner is always a thoughtful way to welcome people into your home.
