LANDSCAPES OF THE MIND: THE ART OF TRISTRAM HILLIER
The Museum of Somerset in Taunton is staging the first retrospective in more than 30 years of this distinctive 20th century artist. Tristram Hillier RA (1905-1983) painted for many years from his home at East Pennard. More than 50 pictures from private lenders and national collections will be on show in one of the most ambitious exhibitions the museum has ever staged. PALACE 800
This year marks 800 years since the building of the Bishop’s Palace in Wells and a host of special events are planned to celebrate. They include a pageant in early May; a celebratory evensong at Wells Cathedral and a medieval fair in August. There will also be a programme of talks by historians and archaeologists, an exhibition telling stories and intrigues of life at the Palace over the centuries and a range of community events, workshops and family-themed activities.
