Can you be a friend, philosopher, tour guide and at the same time a go-to-person for a big tour group? If you do, then the best thing you can do is to become a tour manager, a much in demand professional.
The role of a tour manager involves much more than just taking a group to a destination. Kedar Kulkarni, Senior Tour Manager at Thomas Cook, explains, “There are four major roles of a tour manager -- escorting, guiding, assisting and customer service. He must be pro-active and must have in-depth knowledge of history and geography of the destination where he is taking his tour group. Providing everything as per the needs of the tourists and keeping them safe are the two primary responsibilities of a tour manager.”
