Our Passion Is To Make God Known Where We Work

Elim has always been strong in the Midlands, so we went to the heart of the UK to speak to some amazing Christians who are actively taking Christ into their workplaces.

Our Passion Is To Make God Known Where We Work

What do a police officer and an NHS manager have in common? Well, in the case of Delmar Brown and Olivia Amartey, they share a passion to make God known in the workplace and beyond.

Olivia is senior pastor at Cross point Elim, while Delmar and his wife Ronni are worship coordinators and part of the core leadership team.

Delmar became a Christian at the age of 18, having been dragged to the church where his father was a minister as a youngster. He believes he was called into the police, but it was a calling he had to grow into.

“After completing the prerecruitment course, I took home the job application pack, stuck it under my bed for years and did nothing about it,” Delmar says.

“I was employed as an upholsterer and enjoyed what I did, but I found that I gradually began disliking it, even though I had no reason to.

“Looking back, I know it was God who was doing the stirring and he placed a desire within me to change my career. He placed someone in my life from the police service who was able to coach and guide me at each stage of the recruitment process.”

Olivia became a Christian at the age of 16, having been invited to an evangelistic meeting by a school friend. She remembers being ‘overtaken by the message and overwhelming love of God’.

She says, “To this day, I don’t remember going to the front to respond to the invitation for salvation. What I do remember is knowing, without a shadow of a doubt, that I had encountered Jesus and that my life had irrevocably changed for the better.”
