Guru Purnima And The Perfect Alumni

Just last week I received a dinner invitation from my Alma Mater – Loyola College, one of the oldest educational institutions in Chennai. It was an elegant invite for the Alumni Meet and especially thought provoking.

It was a call for the reunion of all the past pupils. Perhaps, an occasion when the ‘past’ comes together to celebrate the ‘present’.

It triggered in me the very ‘Idea of Guru Purnima’ which will be celebrated in a month from now.

Several years ago, I was deeply inspired by the best explanation ever I had heard of Guru Purnima by the world leader Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, wherein he said that it is actually ‘the Day of the pupil, student, disciple or devotee’. It’s not only the day of remembering and honoring the Master (Guru) or Teacher (Acharya). This year Guru Purnima is going to be unique ! Here’s why.
