MY purple-leaved Malus ‘Royalty’ has the most generous nature. Both the branches and the paving at its feet have been festooned with black crab apples since August!

Unfortunately, the fruits on the floor look remarkably like dead slugs – especially when the small, yellow-centred orbs are squashed, brought indoors on the children’s boots and smeared into the coir lounge carpet.
