Too many stones on a veg patch can cause trouble.

YESTERDAY I visited a friend who wants to turn a field the size of four large allotments into a productive vegetable plot.

At first glance the site on a south west facing slope couldn’t be more perfect, but up close the red Devon earth is strewn with so many stones it looks like an image taken by the Mars Lander and couldn’t be further from the desired Mr McGregor’s garden!
