They are equally good eaten either raw in salads, or cooked &ndash; two visiting young children were given pods to taste and came back several days later for more.Late-sown (August) broad beans were not a success. They grew and flowered, but did not set pods. Radish &lsquo;Bluemoon&rsquo; and &lsquo;Redmoon&rsquo; (T &amp; M) are good finds. Sown in late July they produce crisp, large,&nbsp;mild-flavoured&nbsp;roots for salads well into the winter.At a plant show last June a plant of fragrant&nbsp;Nemesia&nbsp;&lsquo;Lady Penelope&rsquo; (Farplants&nbsp;in garden&nbsp;centres&nbsp;2018) was&nbsp;given to me for trial and it has flowered non-stop since then well into November. This is an amazing introduction and a good example of the way plant breeders are extending the flowering life on summer bedding.Elsewhere, Raspberry &lsquo;Ruby Beauty&rsquo; (Marshalls) is proving a good cultivar for patio pot growing, but be patient as it really comes into its own in the second and third summer.
