OVER THE holidays I had a chance to sit down and watch some of the cult TV programmes everyone has been on about. ‘Have you watched Motherland?’ a friend asked me. Her strained question caught my attention. ‘Why?’ I asked.
‘Oh,’ she said, not quite looking me in the eye. ‘Well, she reminds me of you. Just a little bit.’
I didn’t think much more of it until one night at midnight, with all my children finally asleep and the dog and sofa all to myself, I flicked on episode one of Motherland. One thing led to another and episode one led to episode two, three, four, five and then six. By the end of it I was in hysterics.
