Shivangi Pathak had but one dream—to do something different, something that people would know her for. So she decided to climb Mt Everest, finds Nikita Sawant.
At 16, Shivangi Pathak became the youngest Indian girl to climb Mt Everest. The day she found that mountaineering was actually a sport and not just something adventurers did, she knew what she had to do. “The first peak I wanted to climb was Mt Everest,” smiles Pathak, and climb she did.
In 2016, Pathak started pursuing courses in mountaineering, and once she knew she was ready to climb the world’s highest peak, she didn’t waste any time and promptly set out on her expedition. Pathak scaled Everest in 41 days, earlier this year. “I am proud that I could do it. My mother always encouraged me to pursue my dreams. I feel like I’ve achieved something amazing,” she says.
