HOLLYWOOD hero Tom Hanks is hiding a shocking, secret heartache — his mother abandoned him when he was just 5 years old!

Now Janet Hanks Turner confesses she “felt a great deal of guilt” for the decision that’s haunted her 60-year-old son all his life.

“There’s no denying I had an unhappy childhood,” says Tom, currently starring in the real-life drama Sully, about the daring pilot who landed his jetliner in the Hudson River.

“I felt lonely, abandoned, in the dark.”

Tom’s late father, Amos, and Janet had four kids when they divorced in 1960. Janet, who worked in a hospital, couldn’t support all her children, so she took the youngest, Jim, and left Tom and older siblings Larry and Sandra with her hubby.
