There is no way one can lose weight sitting at home or lying in the bed even if it is to lose 'holiday weight.' If one is not able to go the gym, early morning walks can help. Walks in the early morning before the first meal is recommended because that is the time when the body's metabolism will be high and that would help in weight reduction. Walking in an empty stomach will be an additional incentive in bringing down weight.
Besides the walking, normal basic workout should be resorted to. There is a pyramid set of basic workouts. One can opt for push ups and squats for their work outs. The term pyramid just implies that the work out should be alternated between low to high intensity and then from high to low.
