RISING STAR

Born to Glenis and Roger Hoult, Nick is the third of four children. His mother is a piano teacher and father a pilot. His great-aunt Dame Anna Neagle was one of the most popular actresses of the 1930s.

Nick was just three when a director spotted him watching his brother in a play, and remarked on the child’s ability to concentrate.

Soon, the talented little Hoult kickstarted his career with dramas such as Casualty and The Bill. When he was in the sixth grade, he landed an important role in E4’s groundbreaking youth drama, Skins. He has never looked back.

Nick attended the reputed Sylvia Young Theatre School in London. He practiced ballet along with his sisters and was involved in productions of Swan Lake and The Nutcracker with the national ballet.

His filmography so far includes Intimate Relations (1996) and a breakthrough role as Marcus Brewer alongside Hugh Grant in About a Boy (2002), for which he won several nominations and awards. In 2005, he starred in his first American film The Weather Man as Nicolas Cage’s son.
