Actor LaMonica Garrett is well aware that getting cast as Mar Novu/The Monitor, an extraterrestrial being at the centre of the Arrowverse’s interpretation of DC’s celebrated event Crisis On Infinite Earths, might be his geek peak.
A self-professed “DC guy” – going all the way back to his childhood – Garrett is still processing that he gets to play such a pivotal role in two The CW crossovers: last season’s Elseworlds, which effectively laid the groundwork for this year’s Crisis crossover that plays out across Arrow, Batwoman, The Flash, Legends Of Tomorrow and Supergirl, and features characters from Black Lightning.
While The Monitor was mostly an observer of the multiverse last season, Garrett tells SFX that he’s going to have a lot more facetime this year. “Because the magnitude of Crisis is one of DC’s biggest stories, The Monitor is going to be a little bit busier than he was in Elseworlds and the finales,” he teases.
