So I signed up for Oil and Rope Games’ game design workshop because it seemed like a good idea. Once I was there, however, I couldn’t help being intimidated by the number of people, and the fact that everyone seemed to have some pet idea that they were developing. I’d played at making board games before, when I was a kid, including a failed chess variant and a terrible knock-off of Monopoly, but here I was at Gencon in 2014, surrounded by people who lived and breathed games.
