The crew of the ship from the future recognise the other ship as one from their history books: the Jonah, a vessel belonging to the legendary Fortunate Five, a mysterious team who brokered peace in a war between humanity and an alien empire. Problem is, this Jonah crew is a fractious bunch of smugglers and misfits. So a) how do they escape the anomaly? And b) how do they make sure history runs its course?There&rsquo;s not much in the way of innovation here &ndash; it could have been written any time in the past 30 years &ndash; and the overall plot has a whiff of over-familiarity. But the flashback-fuelled narrative fleshes out a bunch of revelation-packed character arcs, and there&rsquo;s some witty dialogue to enjoy.
