TVSW says: A real treat for film fans
Director David Fincher has already received two Academy Award nominations for movies The Social Network and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button – and he’s now tipped to bring home the Oscar for his new Netflix film, Mank. The intoxicating black-and-white film centres on Herman J Mankiewicz, known as Mank, who wrote the screenplay for Orson Welles’ iconic 1940s movie Citizen Kane.
Mankiewicz was a veteran screenwriter who worked on everything from Marx Brothers comedies to The Wizard of Oz, but he was also a drunk and a hopeless gambler who infuriated everyone he worked with.
