From ‘Thunderbirds are go’ to The Prisoner’s ‘I am not a number’, there is no shortage of entertainment for sci-fans in BritBox’s new selection of classic and cult sci-fi TV series entitled The Out of this World Collection.
The Prisoner (1967-68)
One of the great cult shows of the 1960s stars Patrick McGoohan (also its cocreator) as an ex-secret agent only referred to as Number Six, who is kidnapped and held prisoner in a mysterious coastal village (actually Portmeirion in Wales) while his captors use psychological tactics to probe him for information. 17 episodes.
Sapphire & Steel (1979-1982)
Joanna Lumley and David McCallum take the title roles in this supernatural sci-fi fantasy as two inter-dimensional troubleshooters. Whenever there is a break-in time, they intervene, protecting the universe with their mysterious powers. 34 episodes.
