John Goodman joins forces with Michaela Coel for a taut international drama.
NEW THRILLER
Black earth rising
Monday, BBC2 HD, 9pm
Africa’s complex relationship with the West and the knotty issues involved in the prosecution of war crimes come under the spotlight in BBC2’s tense new thriller.
The eight-part series, written and directed by award-winning Hugo Blick, spans the globe and centres on legal investigator Kate Ashby, played by Michaela Coel. As a child in the 1990s, Kate was rescued from the Rwandan genocide and adopted by dedicated criminal lawyer Eve Ashby (Harriet Walter), who works at the same chambers as Kate, run by Eve’s old friend Michael Ennis (John Goodman).
