NEW SCI-FI
Spiderhead
Available from Fri 17 June, Netflix
With Marvel movie Thor: Love and Thunder due to arrive in cinema screens next month, Chris Hemsworth has become one of Hollywood's biggest stars thanks to his recurring role as the hammer-wielding Norse god of thunder.
But the Australian actor is out to prove that there is more to his career than a string of hit superhero films.
I've been working for 15 years now, and now it's all about looking for new challenges,' he explains. 'I like looking for projects that scare the hell out of me, things that force me to expand and evolve, work harder, and learn more.'
His new role in Netflix sci-fi thriller Spiderhead certainly ticks all of those boxes. The film features the 38-year-old as scientist Steve Abnesti, who runs a remote, state-of-the-art prison called Spiderhead, where inmates are free to roam the premises and wear their own clothes.
