The 42-year-old joins forces with director Dominic Savage to play the title role in the haunting I Am Kirsty, which they created together. Morton plays loving mum Kirsty who discovers her gambling-addicted partner Steve has suddenly upped and left her deeply in debt.
Struggling to feed her daughters, hotel cleaner Kirsty reluctantly borrows money from Ryan (Paul Kaye), a sympathetic dad who befriends her at the school gates. Things turn ugly, however, when Ryan reveals himself to be a predatory and unpredictable loan shark, who threatens Kirsty’s family.
As Kirsty runs out of financial options, she contemplates sex work in order to survive.
