Crime-drama devotees know there are some real gems to be found in BBC1’s daytime schedules – Shakespeare & Hathaway, The Mallorca

Files, Father Brown… And stylish yet gritty London

Kills, which returns this week with five new cases for the elite murder investigation squad, is definitely no exception after the first series proved a hit with viewers last summer.

We last saw DI David Bradford (played by Hugo Speer) looking over a balcony at the body of serial killer Amber Saunders. He insisted that she’d jumped, but only hours before Amber had been connected to the mysterious disappearance of his wife, Sarah, and had stabbed trainee constable Billie Fitzgerald (Tori Allen-Martin).

While Billie made a recovery, David now has questions to answer – and more grisly murders to solve involving an array of guest stars!
