Grab your bucket and spade and prepare for more comedy capers as Gold’s star-spangled hit Sandylands returns for a second series this week.
Having faked his own death in the hope of cashing in on his life insurance, charismatic arcade owner Les Vegas (Sanjeev Bhaskar) was last seen taking to the high seas in a pedalo with his longsuffering daughter, Emily (Natalie Dew), to avoid being rumbled by insurance investigator the OneEyed Man (Hugh Bonneville).
Now, the pair are back in the Sandylands resort, and as well as still having to hide, they’re also busy coping with a shock visitor!
Here, in an exclusive interview, Sanjeev, 57, tells TV Times more…
Where do we find Les at the start of this new three-part series?
Les and Emily are back in Sandylands but hiding is becoming much more difficult for them, mainly because of the surprise arrival of Les’ estranged wife, Donna [played by Tracy-Ann Oberman; see our interview, right]. That adds to the many challenges he is already facing.
How does Les feel about seeing Donna again?
It’s a huge shock to him and he’s extremely conflicted because she’s the woman who walked out on him and their daughter to chase her dream of working on cruise ships, but he’s still attracted to her. He describes himself as ‘a little moth to her flame’.
