The Woolpack has been the heart of the village for decades, but lockdown has changed everything. The famous watering hole is closed for the foreseeable, and the sound of raucous punters and ringing tills has been replaced by an eerie silence. Not surprisingly, landlady Chas Dingle is worried.

‘The place is her livelihood, and given the state of things at the moment, pubs are one of the last things that will be reopened, so it’s a massive strain on her,’ says Lucy Pargeter, who plays Chas.
