Georgia Taylor on why she decided the time was right to head back to the cobbles for lust, betrayal – and maybe even a baby…

Starting a new job is usually exhausting stuff… unless you’re Georgia Taylor.

Returning to her old Coronation Street role at the end of last year, the actress, better known as Toyah Battersby, spent her first day’s filming lying in bed with Chris Gascoyne, aka Peter Barlow. Not a bad way to earn a living, is it?

‘We were literally in bed all day!’ laughs Georgia, 36. ‘But it ended up being the best way to start working together, because it broke the ice. We ended up having a proper laugh, and it made us very relaxed.’

The scenes in question aired a few days after Toyah’s Christmas Day comeback, when the younger Battersby sibling and the ex-bookie slipped away to a hotel. That Peter and Toyah were in a relationship came as a big surprise to viewers, many of whom had thought Peter would reunite with Leanne.

It was a shock to Georgia, too – but in a good way. She tells us it was the prospect of working with Chris that prompted her to come back.
